St. Michael Parish at 401 W Kaye Ave, Marquette, MI 49855 US - St. Michael's Shawl Ministry

    Five years ago this past April, St. Michael  Parish began a Prayer Shawl Ministry for the purpose of knitting or crocheting shawls to those in the parish going through difficult times due to illness or loss.  The person knitting the shawl prays for whoever will receive it as it is being knit and each shawl is prayed over by the group when completed.  Being wrapped in such a shawl is being wrapped in the love of God and the prayers of the community.  Other parishes and church congregations have been invited to spread the word about this most rewarding activity.  We are always trying  to encourage other congregations to start a Shawl Ministry in their own church.  For those who already have established one, we are happy to share tips on fund-raising, distributing the shawls, yarn types and patterns.  We have so much to learn from each other.  Anyone interested in the Prayer Shawl Ministry is most welcome.  Help us spread the word!
