Welcome to Flint's oldest Catholic church
Five Irish Catholic families began holding prayer services in Flint in 1834 and asked the bishop in Detroit to send a priest.. In 1843, a priest came to establish St. Michael Roman
Catholic Church at what is now the corner of Fifth Avenue and Sagainw Street.Still known as "the Irish church," St. Michael attracts more people on St. Patrick's Day than on Christmas,. At the suggestion of a parishioner, the Mass starts at 12:02 p.m. "because the Irish are always late."
