OPERATION RICE BOWL
Our Lenten season is drawing to a close. It is hoped that the ORB Lenten Calendar information and the prayer/fasting/giving suggestions have brought you into a greater solidarity with those in our global community who struggle daily with poverty and injustice. If you have not turned in your ORB rice bowl donation yet, the Operation Rice Bowl collection box will be in the sanctuary the two weekends after Easter. Simply deposit your check (made out to St. Pancratius-ORB) or cash donation into the box before or after Mass those weekends. Thanks go out to our parishioners and youth for their participation in this Lenten program of the United States Catholic Community!
ADORATION
There will be no First Friday Adoration or Thursday evening confession for First Friday on April 2nd, which is Good Friday.
GOOD FRIDAY
On Good Friday, our parish will take up the annual Good Friday Collection for the Holy Land. Your financial contribution helps to support the struggling Christian community and to protect Christianity’s holiest places.
SEDER MEAL
The Seder Meal is the Traditional Jewish Passover meal which commemorates the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. The word “seder” comes from the Hebrew word for “arrangement, order” and refers to the sequence of prayers and the order in which food and wine are being taken. At the meal, bitter herbs, unleavened bread, wine and a roasted lamb are eaten, reminders of the first Passover Meal and the bitterness of slavery. Our Parish Seder Meal will be held on Wednesday, March 31st, in Monsignor Kielty Hall at 6:00 p.m. Tickets for the Seder meal will be on sale after the Sunday Masses and in the Rectory. Please, buy your tickets early, as there is limited availability. In addition, the host families will be reaching out to members of our church community to participate in preparations for the Seder. If you have questions, or would like to participate in this event in any capacity, please call Ernesto or Cristina Soto Sigala at 425-8008 or by cell at 714-920-4794. Please join us for this rich celebration of Seder.
EASTER DECORATIONS
Easter is fast approaching, and we are planning the decorations for the church for Easter Sunday. We are in need of Easter and/or calla lilies to place on the altar. We invite you to bring your lilies in memory of someone you know, who has died and now lives the Resurrection. Please bring the name with your lily plant so that we may place it with your plant. We would appreciate receiving your lilies, in the Church, on Saturday, April 3rd, at 9:00 a.m. Your intentions will be remembered during the Easter Masses. We will be decorating the Church at the same time; all are welcome to help.
