St. Patrick Religious Education Program begins in Grade 1 and is sequential up to Grade 10. In order to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist all students must enroll in Grade 1. The theme for Grade 1 is "Welcome to the Church" All boys and girls begin by learning about God. They are required to learn how to bless themselves and begin learning the Our Father and Hail Mary prayers.
Grade 2 consists of preparing the boys and girls to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in early February and First Eucharist in May.
Grade 3 begins with the four pillars of the Church: we are One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. They learn about the Rosary and the Blessed Mother. Parents are encouraged to continue their child's religious education and not drop out of the program. All grade levels must be covered if a student wishes to be Confirmed in Grade 10.
In Grade 4 students learn the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, and the Law of Love.
They go on to study the Seven Sacraments in depth during Grade 5.
All of our students receive their own bible in Grade 6 so that they can immerse themselves in the Old Testament and the story of the Israelites.
Grade 7 continues with additional scripture study as students learn about the life of Jesus and the Apostles in the New Testament.
Grade 8 learns about the history of the Church and how we have developed over two thousand years. The Confirmation program is a two year program for all public school students that begins in Grade 9. Students that are attending Catholic High School enter our program in Grade 10. During these two years the students will be involved in service projects, prayer experiences, and retreats that lead up to the celebration of Confirmation in the spring. Students that have left our program and wish to reenter classes are always welcome to return. However, they will be required to make up the coursework that they missed before beginning new classes.
