The St. Francis Society is a social organization for parishioners of St. Paul’s and Christ The King parishes who are 50 years of age or older and their spouses. St. Francis Society meets once a month. We have a variety of programs and activities of interest. The St. Francis Group generally participates at First Friday Mass with an activity or program following. We take day trips to interesting sites and include a tour of a local church or chapel. The 2008 - 2009 calendar is posted below. The St. Francis Society 2008 - 2009 Calendar of Events: SEPTEMBER 5, 2008 We will meet for First Friday Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s followed by a luncheon in the Hall. A speaker from the Red Cross will talk to us about disaster preparedness and pandemic flu. OCTOBER 3, 2008 NOVEMBER 7, 2008 We will meet at Christ the King at 10:00 AM. We will travel by car to Sacred Heart Retreat House outside of Coolville, Ohio. Sister Mariel will give a retreat. Mass will be included. We will have lunch at the Retreat House. We will leave the Retreat House at 2:00 PM to return to Athens. DECEMBER 5, 2008 We will celebrate First Friday Mass at 5:15 PM at Christ The King Church followed by our annual Christmas Potluck at the Parish Center. We will then have a Christmas music program. JANUARY 2, 2009 FEBRUARY 6, 2009 We will celebrate First Friday Mass at 12:15 PM at Christ The King Church followed by a chili lunch in the parish center. Joanne Prisley will speak about the history of the Catholic Churches in Athens County. MARCH 6, 2009 We will celebrate First Friday Mass at 12:00 PM at St. Paul's followed by a soup luncheon. APRIL 3, 2009 We will meet at Christ the King at 10:30 AM and then travel by car to Holy Cross Church, Glouster, Ohio. We will celebrate Mass at Holy Cross at 11:00 AM. We will then travel to Burr Oak Lodge for lunch. MAY 1, 2009 We will meet at Christ the King at 9:00 AM and travel by car (or bus) to Holy Family Parish in Columbus, Ohio. We will tour the Holy Family Museum and then celebrate Mass at Holy Family Church. Following Mass we will go to a local restaurant for lunch. JUNE 5, 2009 We will meet at Christ the King Church at 10:00 AM. We will travel by car to the newly renovated St. Mary's Church, Marietta, Ohio. After a tour of the church we will celebrate Mass at 12:05 PM and then go to a local restaurant for lunch. JULY 3, 2009 We will celebrate First Friday Mass at 8:30 AM at St. Paul's followed by coffee and doughnuts. AUGUST 7, 2009 We will meet at Christ the King at 10:00 AM and travel by car to Sacred Heart Church, Pomeroy, Ohio. Following a tour of the church we will celebrate Mass at 11:15 AM and then go to a local restaurant for lunch. Some events are tentative, so be sure to check the church bulletin for each month’s activity.
Because of the Holiday Season, we will NOT meet in January.
