St. Peter the Apostle Church at 1510 Matamoros, Laredo, TX 78040 US - Parish Cabinet Food Collection

In the early centuries after Christ's resurrection, local churches cared for their poor, orphans, and widows in many ways, but especially by feeding them with weekly food collections from the faithful.  The modern Church now cares for the poor by operating orphanages (like Sacred Heart Children's Home), food kitchens, and homeless shelters (like Bethany House).

Much like the early Church, St. Peter's Parish would like to do its part to care for the poor, not only of Laredo generally, but of our parishioners particularly.  Your food donations will support registered parish families in need of food assistance as well as Bethany House and the Laredo Food Bank.

So make this act of charity a family event.  Gather your family toghether and go through your kitchen cubbards.  Pick out some canned goods or other non-perishable food items to give away.  Then bring them to Sunday Mass and deposit them in the Parish Cabinet Collection basket at the main entrance of the church.

If you or your family needs food assistance, or you know of a parish family that does, please call the Parish Secretary.  She will ask a volunteer to visit the Parish Cabinet, collect some food items, and deliver them.
