St. Peter’s Announcements
All Saints will be celebrated at the regular weekend mass times at both Cosgrove and Oxford on October 31 and November 1. On Monday, November 2 Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed (All Souls) will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. Oxford and 5:00 p,m. Cosgrove.
November is the month when we remember those loved ones that have gone before us. Remembrance cards have been placed at the entrances to the church on which you may list the names of those you wish remembered during our November masses. Drop the card in the collection basket and they will be placed on the altar, or you may place them directly on the altar yourself.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:
- Classes will be held today with coffee and rolls being served by the Johnson & Scott Rohret families. Classes will held on November 8th with coffee and rolls being served by the Wells and Tom Detweiler families.
- ALTAR SERVERS: Training will be held on Sunday, November 8th at 10:00 AM. It is requested that all Altar Servers, current and new servers attend the training.
Congratulations to the Confirmation Candidates who will be signing the Rite of Choice on November 8, 2009: Jordan Detweiler, Morgan Finnegan, Kameron Kahler, Tim Mardesen, Jared Steckly, and Matthew Wells.
YOUTH GROUP
- News flyer called: TEAM NEWS TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE. St. Mary’s & St. Peter’s Youth Group will be placed in the back of church once a month. This Team News will have upcoming events, articles for reflections & scripture reflection for that month, announcements & also a thought for the month on Renewal, Action, Piety & Study. Team News is for all high school youth & all parishioners to take home & enjoy.
- YOUTH GROUP on NOVEMBER 1st, We will be preparing, serving a lunch for the Iowa City soup kitchen and we have adopted a family to buy a Thanksgiving dinner for them. We will purchase the turkey and all the trimmings, what we can early. If you would like to donate a few dollars to help cover the cost, Please put in a envelope that reads on the outside "Youth Group Adopt a family." We would greatly appreciate your support. All Youth planning to serve your neighbor, be at the Oxford Hall Nov. 1st, 10:30 to rock and roll. MIchelle Montgomery 828-8190
- NCYC chaperone's meeting Nov. 15th at St Mary’s Hall at 11:00 after the 10:00 mass
- NCYC Send off Blessing, St. Peter's Saturday Nov.14th, 5;00 Mass. St. Mary's Oxford Nov.15th, 10:00 Mass. All participating plan to attend one of these masses that week.
The Annual Diocesan Appeal drive is now under way. We have received $5,785 in pledges towards our 2009 ADA goal of $14,043 from thirty-three parish families. That is 41% of our total goal. Twenty one percent of our parish families have pledged toward this drive. This drive funds many diocese programs - please consider giving to this cause. Thank you to those that have already given so generously.

Piecing Earth Together: World Community Day 2009 on Fri. Nov 6th at New Horizons UMC, 2251 2st Ave., Coralville. Registration at 9:30 with Program at 10 a.m. Child Care provided. All ladies are welcome to attend.
Oxford First Responder Soup Supper, Sat, Nov 7 from 4-8pm at Oxford Fire Station. Serving: chili, potato, chicken, and beef barley soups, applesauce, relishes, cheese, & cinnamon rolls. New this year....chicken noodle & beef barley soups prepared and donated by Augusta Restaurant. Free will donation. Boy Scouts will be present for popcorn sales
