Sacred Heart Church, located on Park Street in Laporte, Pennsylvania, is a mission church of St. Francis of Assisi in Mildred. This historic country church was built by the Lawrence Brothers of Dushore, Pennsylvania in 1894 and was dedicated on July 4, 1895. Reverend John A. Enright was the first pastor. According to the directives of Bishop Joseph Martino, Bishop of Scranton, Sacred Heart Church in Laporte will close in July of 2009. The closing Mass will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 2:30 PM. |
