Unemployment Support Group to Reconvene – Sister Eleanor
Are you unemployed or underemployed at this time? It may be time to “revive” our Unemployment Support Group that was so helpful in the past. Please call the Social Ministry Office at 215.368.1670 or drop by the Parish Center at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning, March 31.
NAMI Walk
Last year St. Stan’s sent a small, enthusiastic team of walkers to Belmont Plateau in Fairmont Park for the first annual Greater Philadelphia “Walk for the Mind of America.” Diseases of the mind take an enormous toll on individuals as well as family and friends. Funds raised help to provide programs of education and support for those directly affected by mental illness. NAMI needs your mind – full of understanding and support – to carry on its mission to improve the lives of people living with mental illness. Please call your Social Ministry Office, 215.368.1670, to join a walking team or sponsor a walker. For more information about NAMI go to www.nami.org. The walk date this year is May 30 – all walkers welcome!
Parenting
The Parish Social Ministry Office has many resources and catalogues full of resources for parenting for both group and individual use. Boys Town Press has recently sent a catalog with a wide variety of resources: a home study video/DVD "Common Sense Parenting;" "Seven Habits for Highly Effective Teenagers" and social skills story books for the very young, materials for teachers, parents and teens focusing on problem areas for individuals or groups. Please feel welcome to call Sister Eleanor at 215-368-1670 if you would like to review or use anything we have, or if you would like to gather a group for using these programs at your convenience at the Parish Center.
