Our Baptismal Preparation classes are held on the first Monday of every month at 6:30pm. These classes are available in Spanish and English. Please arrive early to fill out paperwork. A copy of the child's birth certificate is required before Baptism. (classes are subject to change, please call the parish office the day of or the Friday before class to confirm the day and time) The class may be taken before or after child's birth. In an emergency call a priest. Regulations for the Sacrament of Baptism According to the Code of Canon Law (1983) and the Pastoral Handbook of the Archdiocese of Denver dated April 2004, the following requirements are set forth for those seeking the Sacrament of Baptism for thier children. The parents must be registered and active Catholics in the Carbon Valley Communities, eg. If parents are not registered members of the Carbon Valley Churches, they must have a letter stating that they are registered and active at another Catholic parish and granting permission for them to Baptize here. One parent must be Baptized, Confirmed and receiving Eucharist weekly. They also must be married in the Catholic Church. Both parents are required to attend a Baptismal Preparation class in either their home parish or our parish. If they attended a class in their home parish, we need a letter attesting to their attendance. Godparents must be Baptized, Confirmed and receiving Eucharist weekly as well as being registered and attending in their home parish. If married they must be married in a Catholic Church. If Godparents are not registered memebers of the Carbon Valley Catholic Churches, we must have a letter stating that they are registered and active at their home parish. One Godparent can be a Baptized practicing Christian. Godparents are required to attend a Baptismal Preparation class along with the Catholic parents and have a letter of testimony to their attendance. The family has been registered in the parish for at least 4 months
The family verifiably contributes, according to their means, on a regular basis
to the financial support of the parish.
The family attends Mass weekly and is involved in the activities,
organizations or programs at the parish.
