We have a fall tree in our room to encourage good school behavior. In addition to our tree, each child also has four tickets on top of his/her mailbox. The goal is to keep all four of his/her tickets to prevent the leaf from falling down for the week. The initial step is a verbal warning to your child. The first ticket (white) is a second warning and your child will lose 5 minutes of recess. If the next ticket (green) is lost, your child will lose ten minutes of recess time. If a yellow ticket is lost, your child will lose all 20 minutes of recess time. If your child loses all of the tickets (including the last red one), his/her leaf will fall down, and a phone call or note will be immediately sent home to inform you that your child has lost all of his/her tickets. If a behavior is severe, your child will also receive an office referral and/or a detention. With each ticket lost, there will be a ticket form sent home immediately for you to sign and return the following day. This allows you to become aware of your child’s behavior on the day it has occurred, so that the issue may be addressed promptly. At the end of the week, each child will receive a behavior award. On this award will be the number of tickets your child has retained for that week. If your child retains all of his/her tickets, he/she will receive a treat and a sticker on the classroom incentive chart. If your child loses the white, green, yellow, or red ticket they will not receive a treat or sticker. This, as well as the signed ticket form, is to keep you informed of your child’s behavior on a weekly basis. Please ask to see your child’s behavior award and discuss with your child proper school behavior. On Monday, your child will begin with all of his/her tickets and his/her leaf back up on the tree.
