We are now entering the season of Lent and the 6th graders have been busy preparing for this.  Class discussions have centered around the primary focuses for us  during this time.  There will also be writing activities, mission lessons, prayer services and opportunities for almsgiving.  

The students have been actively engaged in the novel "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry".  Furthermore, the junior high gathered recently to watch a film depicting the same themes as in the book.  Insightful classroom discussions followed -- thanks to all who helped organize it.

In math, I  hope the students still think of fractions as their friends.  We will be relating them to ratios, proportions and then on to percents.
